Bella Belle Nail Couture – A Sweet Surprise

My second thermal polish ever, and I’m obsessed!!

A Sweet Surprise* is is a rich purple when cool and turns pink when warm. If you have a lot of free edge to your nails (which I unfortunately didn’t at the time of swatching – I miss my long nails!), then the polish stays mainly in a gorgeous gradient-like effect from your cuticle to free edge. I loved that Bella Belle added a twist to this by putting in some subtle scattered holo as well. Dreamy!

The formula was on the thin side but easy to apply. This is 3 coats plus top coat.

Pretty Perfect Package Vol. II swatches & review

There’s nothing better than when two great Aussie brands come together to create some awesome polishes. Jacinta from Powder Perfect Cosmetics and Jalene from Pretty Pots Polish have collaborated again to create Volume 2 of their sweetly named Pretty Perfect Package and the colours are perfect for Autumn/Fall!

This collection is available today.

Starting off with Pretty Pots Polish’s contributions:

This is Winged Chariot*, a rich golden-olive glittery base with warm copper flecks. I’ve seen swatches on other people and it comes off more olive on me than on others, which I’m iffy about. Wish it looked more gold on me! Wonderful formula though; this is 2 coats plus top coat, no clean up necessary.

Spellbound in Perpetuity* is a jumble of green, blue, magenta and pink glitters in multiple sizes in a blurple jelly base. I think this is much more suited to being layered, as the jelly base seems pretty sheer and thin. I layered 2 coats over Essie No More Film plus top coat.

ImageNow for Power Perfect 🙂

Around the Salvatore Fireplace* is made up of flakies and a strong pink shimmer in a greyed-out purple base. Very good for colder weather! The formula was the most difficult out of all of these. It seemed to dry pretty fast so by the time I tried to swipe to evenly cover the whole nail, it would get cluggy. I suggest moving quickly to avoid this, and letting each coat dry before applying the next one to avoid cuticle drag. This was 2 coats plus top coat.

ImageAnother Time Another Place* is my favourite! It’s a berry scattered holo that reminds me of a blend between Zoya Aurora and OPI DS Extravagance. Very nice formula at 2 coats plus top coat. Top coat is a must to make it nice and shiny as it tends to dry on the dull side.

The Pretty Perfect Package can be purchased here.

What do you guys think of this collab? I know I’m definitely looking forward to more PPPs in the future!

Bella Belle Nail Couture – Seduced

Another stunning polish from Bella Belle!

This was part of their Valentine’s duo but is getting released on its own; and rightly so, because it’s just too damn gorgeous to be discontinued!

Seduced* is described as a “deep magenta with red diamond dust and scattered holo throughout”. The formula is on the thin side, but easy to apply, just watch out you don’t flood your cuticles (but that’s what clean up is for!). I used 3 thin coats plus top coat.

The first photo is in my lightbox and the second photo under direct light. The last photo is blurred to show off the pretty holo.

I don’t think there’s such thing as having too many holo polishes so everyone definitely needs this one in their stash. What a stunner!!

Lavender & yellow floral frames and studs

Nail art time! Woo!

This was a manicure I did a while back that came completely out of the blue. I think I was watching an episode of Breaking Bad (best show ever made!!!) and Marie was wearing a sheer nude-coloured blouse with flowers on it and I just happened to be doing my nails at the time so I thought why not? And I love how this came out!

This design would be perfect for Spring, and can be changed up with so many different colours for the flowers. I’m already thinking up colours combos to recreate this!

Polishes used: Sinful Colors Unicorn, Lime Crime Lavendairy, Essence Make It Golden, Essie Mojito Madness, and an unnamed polish by Midie.

The studs are from Born Pretty Store, which I have a discount code for all my lovely followers! 10% off for all items (except sale items) and the store offers free shipping worldwide too! Click on the pic to get linked to the store 🙂

I entered this design into Julep’s Spring nail art competition. If you’d like to check out their polish range, visit here.

Bella Belle Nail Couture – Absolute Deck-adence collection

Hai guys!

It’s been a while since I’ve showcased Bella Belle on here, and by golly gosh, it’s been too long. Vicky’s been hard at work creating some awesome colours including these two glitters that I’m dying to show you. Without further ado, let the swatchfest begin!

All photos are shown with 1 coat of Peita’s Polish Quick! Gloss Me Up!* top coat.

Compass Rose* is a deep rich pink creme with an amazing formula. 2 thin coats.

Blue Buoy* is a dusty blue creme with the same awesome formula. It’s a bit deeper/darker than my picture shows. 2 thin coats.

Deep Dev-Ocean* (love the name!) is a beautiful beautiful teal creme. I can’t get over it; I just adore this colour! Why didn’t I have anything like this in my collection before?! 2 wonderful thin coats again.

Now onto these must-have glitters, which are perfect for accent nails.

Golden Helm* is a gold glitter bomb that is good in 3 coats, or can be layered. Very smooth, easy formula to work with. I’ve been dying for a gold glitter like this specifically for accent nails and Vicky saw me drooling over the prototypes she posted on her Instagram lol. It’s even better in person!

Anchors Aweigh* is on a similar vein to Golden Helm except silver and is now my go-to accent nail, I’m not even kidding. Along with Golden Helm, it dries pretty smooth, only needing one coat of top coat, and it comes off with polish remover easier than other glitter bombs that I’ve tried. This was 3 good coats also.

There isn’t an official release date as of yet for this collection but I recommend following @bellabellenailcouture on Instagram and Facebook to get regular updates on when it will be available. (Edit: they’ll be available from her etsy store on the 7th of April at 8pm). I assure you, you don’t want to miss out!

Glam Polish – The Hangover Trio (limited edition!)

The second new release from Glam Polish this month is the Hangover Trio, inspired by one of my favourite movies (well the first one was the best one, lol). Las Vegas is all about big city and bright lights – what I’m assuming anyway, I’ve never been! – and what’s more fitting than these glowing iridescent glitters.

The formula for all of these were excellent; I did not even require clean up for these photos! All swatches are topped with 1 coat of Essence Gel-look top coat and Peita’s Polish Quick! Gloss Me Up!* top coat.

These glitters were made for layering but I thought I’d try them all on their own for super glimmer, iridescent appeal. I think I love them more on their own! It has a mermaid-y feel! But they do not get completely opaque at 3 coats, with VNL still visible, which I didn’t mind but I know other people dislike. In those cases, it’s best to layer these over dark colours.

First is To a Night the Four of Us Will Never Forget*, made up of “multiple sizes of iridescent rainbow glitter with tiny flakies and holo flake in a clear base”. This is 3 coats.

There’s a Jungle Cat in the Bathroom* is made up of “multiple sizes of iridescent green/gold glitter with tiny flakies and holo flake in a clear base”. This is 3 coats.

I Guess That’s Why They Call It Sin City!* is made up of “multiple sizes of iridescent blue/purple glitter with tiny flakies and holo flake in a clear base”. This is 3 coats.

Here I layered all the polishes over black (Ulta3 Black Satin) to show you guys how they look layered. Super super pretty and glowy! My pinky and fore finger are IGTWTCISC. Middle finger is TANTFOUWNF. Ring finger is TAJCITB.

This collection is available now, for a limited time only, so get your orders in soon! For US and Aus customers, you can purchase them here

Glam Polish – Bunny Trail collection (limited edition!)

Hi guysss!

I’m back with another superb, adorable, fantastical collection by Glam Polish that get’s 1000 thumbs up by be because it:

  1. Has dot glitter.
  2. More specifically, pastel dot glitter.
  3. And they’re all pastels!!!!

Man, if there’s one thing I love – even more than neons – is pastels. They’re so versatile, I don’t care what anyone says, I’ll be rocking them in all seasons.

A small disclaimer about the formulas for these polishes: I received them a while back before they were released and they were a sample batch. I found the formula for 4/5 of the coloured-based polishes to be quite patchy and hard to work with, with each subsequent coat never seeming to make the base 100% opaque. I contacted Rachel about this and she assured me she would fix up the formulas before she started batching them up for distribution and sale. I can’t really comment on the changes to the formula and if they’re better, but knowing Rachel, she’s all about quality and I’m sure they have been improved.

All these swatches are topped with 1 coat of Essence Gel-Look top coat and 1 coat of Peita’s Polish Quick! Gloss Me Up!* top coat.

(I had to use my pictures from IG for this post because I haven’t had time to take my proper blog pictures, but when I do, I’ll be making another post for this collection)

Bunny Love*, a baby pink crelly base with pastel pink dot and small gold glitter and pink flakes. 3 coats.

Lil’ Chickadee* has darker peach dot glitter and flakes in an orangey-peach crelly base. 3 coats.

Spring has Sprung* has pale yellow dots glitters in a pastel green crelly base. 3 coats.

For Peep’s Sake* has blue dot glitters and flakies in a white/light blue base. 3 coats.

It’s a Good Hare Day* is my favourite from this collection!! And no surprise because it’s a pastel purple. 3 coats.

Last up is the odd one out in the collection, but a perfect addition to the group – a pastel dot glitter topper with a fab formula. I used this for the accent nail in all my previous swatches (simply glitter placement over white using a small dotting tool) and I think it’s one of my new favourite glitter toppers because how adorable are pastel dots?!?!! I can’t. It’s just too cute. I used 2 coats over Glitter Gal White Pointer* for this swatch. The gradient nails are done with Lime Crime Parfait Day, Sinful Colors Unicorn and Essence That’s What I Mint!.

Ulta3 pink & green retro leopard print

I know, I know, where have I been?! It’s been so hectic these past few weeks/months and now that uni has started up again (ugh), blogging has kind of been pushed to the back burner against my will.

Since my last post, I’ve hit 10k followers on Instagram! Wow I can’t even believe it, thank you heaps to everyone who continues to support me and I’m so happy to be able to do what I love and share it with like-minded people out there. My focus is and always has been on IG (it came before my blog!) but I’m hoping to blog more whenever I get the chance. Please bear with me; don’t leave!

This mani was inspired by some colours sent to me by the fabulous people at Heatgroup, who are responsible for Ulta3, one of the best and most affordable Aussie make-up brands. At $2 a pop, I’m pretty sure almost everyone in Australia has at least one bottle of Ulta3 in their house somewhere! I just saw these two bottles sitting next to each other on my bedside table and knew they had to be thrown together, and in what better way than with a design I haven’t done in ages… leopard print!

ImagePolishes used: Ulta3 Black SatinFairy Floss*, and Mojito* with Peita’s Polish Quick! Gloss Me Up!* top coat. The studs are from Born Pretty Store.

Hope you guys like it!

Glam Polish – Supernatural Collection swatches

supernatural1The second collection by Glam Polish out this February is the Supernatural Collection, a gorgeous group of rich-coloured jellies packed with holo hex glitters in various sizes. There’s so much depth in these polishes, just *drool*.

The formula on all these polishes was top notch; I literally did not need clean up for any of them except to tidy the edges. But no pooling at the cuticles, no runny or overly thin formulas, no fishing for glitter required. All these swatches are topped with 1 coat of Essence Gel-look top coat and are photographed in both a lightbox and artificial light.

Vortex* is described as having “tiny sparkly flakes with a mix of blue & silver holographic glitter in a deep blue jelly base”. It was the only one in the group that I used 3 coats for, but it definitely is opaque at 2 – I just desired more glitter on the nail to add to the depth.

Phenomena* is “tiny sparkly flakes and multiple size of holographic glitter in a burgundy jelly base”. 2 coats needed.

Divinity* is the same glitter mix in a rich eggplant purple base. This is my favourite of the group; it looks so magical and the depth is amazing at only 2 coats.

Spectral* is “tiny sparkly flakes, beautiful shimmer and multiple size of holographic glitter in a blurple jelly base”. 2 coats.

supernatural9And finally Mystic*, a delicious green base with multiple sizes of holographic glitter. Probably my second pick of the collection, this is 2 coats.

The Supernatural Collection is available for preorder now and is officially released on the 27th of February. This collection will be available at international stockists in late March.

Glam Polish – Nature’s Beauty Trio swatches

natures beauty1I’m so excited to show off two more collections from Glam Polish for this February. First up is the Nature’s Beauty Trio, consisting of three unique glitter bombs full of eclectic mixes and shades. All swatches are topped with 1 coat of Essence Gel-look top coat and 1 coat of Glitter Gal Gloss Boss top coat.

Bird of Paradise* is made up of “a gorgeous mix holographic, metallic and matte glitter in a lime jelly base.” The formula was surprisingly easy to work with, requiring only 3 coats for opacity.

natures beauty2

Aurora* is described as “a rainbow of metallic glitter, small silver holographic stars & holo flake in a blue jelly base”. Such a unique mix! This was also 3 easy coats.

natures beauty3Finally Black Opal* is a stunning polished described as “multiple sizes of holographic charcoal glitter, tiny flakies and holo flake in a black jelly base.” In the shadows, I found the glitter to look a little drowned in the base and a bit chunky-looking despite only needing 2 coats for opacity, but in the sun or direct light, whoa does this polish come out to play. The holo iridescent glitter really glows! I couldn’t capture it properly on camera despite attempting to photograph it with flash; I guess you’ll just have to buy it to find out its true amazingness! 😛
